This Privacy Statement applies to personal information collected, used and managed by Zero Invasive Predators. It also covers information that we collect, use and manage through our role as the operational delivery partner for the following projects: Predator Free South Westland, Te Manahuna Aoraki Project, and Predator Free Rakiura.

We respect your privacy.

We collect, use and manage personal information in accordance with the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020.

Collection, use and disclosure of personal information

We collect personal information, such as your name, contact details and land ownership/occupation details when you:

  • subscribe to a newsletter
  • submit a contact form
  • request notifications about planned operations in areas you use
  • grant permission to access your property and carry-out activities (through an online form or verbally)
  • submit a sighting of native wildlife or of invasive animals and plants
  • make a donation.

We use your personal information to send you newsletters, reply to your messages, plan activities to eliminate invasive animals, work safely on your property, process donations (via secure third-party providers), and to contact you.

In general, we do not share personal information with other parties, except to:

  • our project partners (e.g. Predator Free Rakiura, Te Manahuna Aoraki Project), to facilitate any of the uses described above
  • regulators, to get their permission to carry-out some activities (such as the use of specific toxins or road closures) by proving that we have communicated with you about our plans.

How long we keep personal information

We keep:

  • personal information for as long as you remain subscribed to a newsletter or to respond to your enquiry
  • wildlife and pest sightings indefinitely, as they inform predator control planning and research
  • permissions to access land and carry-out activities as long as reasonably required to undertake predator control
  • donation records for 7 years, to comply with New Zealand financial record-keeping laws.
